When I first got involved in the BattleTech universe, the amount of information present on the Internet was almost limitless. Unfortunately, that information was scattered over upteen sites, with some information partially "fictionalized" by the faction putting up the site.|
This website is basically somewhere where I can gather together and park information on the BT regiment which I have "created", and also to put up some opinions and comments. BattleTech and MechWarrior are of course registered trademarks of FASA Corporation. Most of the information in this website have been gathered from public websites across the internet. Much as I would like to acknowledge the various people who have spent time putting in the information, unfortunately similar data was found over many different websites. Thus it is next to impossible to know who were the original authors.
Let me state that I am interested in BattleTech more for the storyline and novels, rather than the games themselves. The MechWarrior and MechCommander game series were a bonus.
The two main reasons why I am interested in BattleTech are
I go by the name of the "188th Barak Brigade" in BattleTech discussion boards, that brigade being the historically famous and gallant Israeli armoured brigade that stood firm in the Golan Heights against overwhelming odds during the 1973 Yom Kippur war, being almost annhilated in the process. The true-life history of the Barak Brigade can be found on the main page.
In seting up this independant BT command, I have been rather "liberal" in organizing the TOE of the Brigade. I unfortunately do not have in-depth knowledge of the BT board games & RPG, and their complicated rule structures. Much of my BT "knowledge" comes from the novels, discussion threads, plus the MechWarrior series (1,2&3) & MechCommander games. While this will probably invoke the ire of BT purists, I have thus set up the TOE of the 31st century Pazan Regiment and the three component brigades (Barak, Seventh, and Golani) to be reinforced brigades comprising of omnimechs and mechs, both from Clan and IS sources. This "mix-and-match" is considered "munchkin" by some BT purists, especially those of the pre-3025 era. I have let it be, since the main idea is to have fun in the BT universe, and what better way than to introduce another spanner in the works, with an independant Dragoon-like brigade, with Clan-level technology. Custom mechs and mech variants have been designed using either HeavyMetal Pro, a BT mech designer and editor by Rick Raisley, or The Drawing Board, by Blackstone Interactive. Where possible I've tried to keep the designs to level 2 tech.
