The Pazan Regiment's TOE has long been a source of confusion to their enemies. Under conventional notion, a regiment is comprised of 3 battalions. However, Pazan uses the older convention of a regiment denoting a military formation. In Pazan, the TOE is arranged according to a traditional armor unit of the 20th century, with the exception that the Mech now takes the place of tanks. The Regiment thus comprises 3 brigades. Each brigade in turn is made up of 3 battalions. Thus tangling with Pazan will not result in dealing with a mere 3 mech battalions but 9, in addition to the Regiment's supporting arms. This is comparable to the Eridani Light Horse and the Northwind Highlanders. Only Wolf's Dragoons have a larger TOE.|
A generalized breakdown of the Pazan-style TOE is as follows:
The size of each of Pazan's brigades is thus slightly larger than a Clan Galaxy. Each brigade's actual mix of mechs and vehicles will vary, depending on its mission and formation ie. the combined arms nature of the Golani Brigade, the Clan-style tactics of the 7th Brigade, and the Assault tactics of the Barak Brigade.
The other issue deals with the size of Pazan's naval assets. As mentioned previously, the FWL has a standing naval technology transfer arrangement with Pazan. However, this alone will not account for all of Pazan's warships. The truth is that under the naval arm of Pazan, Heyl ha'Yam, there is a naval commando force (Flotilla 13) that specialises in the boarding and capture of warships and jumpships. This force has been very successful in its long history.
Furthermore, one has to realize that Pazan has been acquiring and/or capturing warships since 2750 through the time of Kerensky's exodus till present. Such warships were hidden in cache locations to prevent their use (or misuse) during the first three Succession Wars, but owing to infringement of territorial integrity during the 4th Succession War and the ferocity of the subsequent Clan invasion, these warships have been brought back online for use by the Regiment. It was a great surprise to the Inner Sphere when it was revealed that Pazan had McKennas in their naval TOE, as such vessels had been deemed "extinct" since the days of Kerensky's Exodus.
The exact specifications and conditions of the warships are not clear presently, but it is known that Heyl ha'Yam has 6 capital warships, two in each class. The names of the warships are:
This emphasis on growth by salvage is also reflected in the battlefield tactics of the Pazan battalions, which emphasize accuracy over general destruction. The regiment's mechwarriors generally go for mech disablement shots such as targeting the legs of the mechs. Occasionally, when dealing with particularly vicious enemies such as Clan Smoke Jaguar and pirates, the mechwarriors tend to go for headshots. Battlefield mech salvage is thus very high.
